Celebrating 40 Years of Transformation
The Smithsonian Science Education Center is celebrating four decades of Transforming K-12 Education Through Science, in collaboration with communities across the globe. The idea of transformation has always been at the core of our work. As we consider our next forty years, this spirit of transformation will continue to guide us in creating innovative, inclusive, and sustainable learning experiences that connect students with the science of the Smithsonian.
Our Impact in 2025
- Directly served over 3.6 million students, indirectly reached over 8.5 million students globally
- Over 2,300 U.S. school districts using our award-winning Smithsonian Science for the Classroom curriculum
- Our curriculum received an "all green" rating, and was also designated one of the "Best in STEM"
- Engaged and supported over 100,00 educators worldwide
- Hosted over 20 Professional Development opportunities for STEM educators
- Engaged in over 20 education outreach activities
- 118 countries using the Smithsonian Science for Global Goals guides and resources
- Developed a new game, sourcebook, lesson sets, guidebook, and two eBooks
- Nearly 700,000 clicks on our digital resources and games
