This fall, the Smithsonian Science Education Center (SSEC) and partner organizations in Egypt worked collaboratively to build young peoples’ knowledge and skills around global and local sustainability issues through the Smithsonian Science for Global Goals community research guide, Sustainable Communities! How will we help our community thrive? The program, sponsored by General Motors, trained 65 educators, mentors and facilitators, received 13 video submissions from 5 regions across Egypt, and collected student work, examples of student action-taking projects and basic pre-and post-student assessments. The student work was selected by panelists at SSEC to be shared through meetings, workshop sessions, digital storytelling campaigns and other avenues coinciding with the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
