“The goal of ‘Aquation’ is to give students a simplified look into the complex problems of water scarcity and water equity on a global scale,” said Brian Mandell, the Smithsonian Science Education Center’s division director of Curriculum and Communications. “‘Aquation’ is fun, timely and, just like the real world issues it’s supposed to be modeling, it’s complicated.”

“Nominees like the Smithsonian Science Education Center are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet,” said Claire Graves, Executive Director of The Webby Awards. “It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the over 13,000 entries we received this year.”

As a nominee, the Smithsonian Science Education Center is also eligible to win a Webby People’s Voice Award, which is voted online by fans across the globe. From now until April 20th, Smithsonian Science Education Center fans can cast their votes at https://vote.webbyawards.com/PublicVoting#/2018/games/general/public-service-activism.
