Navigating the New Normal in Schools with the Smithsonian Science Education Center

Students across the US and around the world are heading back to school in person, some for the first time in over a year. But the COVID-19 pandemic isn’t over, and teachers are facing the challenge of how to engage their students in conversations around COVID-19, and the COVID-19 vaccine. The Smithsonian’s Vaccines&US portal and the Smithsonian Science Education Center are supporting the public to build an understanding of the underlying science of COVID-19, the public health measures we can each take to protect ourselves and others, and the decades of science behind the COVID-19 vaccines that are our best defense against the virus. Smithsonian Science Education Center is committed to supporting educators and students in these challenging conversations, and will hold a series of programs in September and October, sharing the Smithsonian Science for Global Goals guides: COVID-19! How can I protect myself and others? and Vaccines! How can we use science to help our community make decisions about vaccines?
